This trip takes you on the wildest of sea kayaking itineraries along Corsica's west coast. You'll discover an almost inaccessible shoreline and spectacular beaches such as Ficaghjola and Arone.
The often calm morning seas and afternoon breezes make for ideal morning sailing.
You'll explore sea caves, stone arches, sandy coves, the village of Girolata, and the Scandola reserve, admiring geological formations and a diverse fauna.
Your adventure will be punctuated by dives, nights under the stars, and visits to cultural sites such as Cargèse.
The trip concludes with a return to the port of Sagone, followed by a transfer to Ajaccio or the airport, leaving you with unforgettable memories of a 'wild' Corsica and a palette of colours of rare intensity.
YOUR PROGRAMME
DAY 1 Porto and Bussaglia beach
Welcome at Ajaccio airport at 1pm, followed by a transfer to the kayak base. After a detailed presentation of the tour, we prepare the kayaks. We then set off for the Gulf of Porto for a short sail to the beach at Bussaglia. The evening concludes with dinner and the first night in a bivouac on the beach.
DAY 2 Gulf of Porto and Girolata
An introduction to navigation and safety at sea precede our discovery of the Gulf of Porto. We explore its sea caves and its imposing stone arch emerging from the waves. Our journey takes us to Girolata, a picturesque village accessible only by sea and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Dinner and overnight in a bivouac on the beach.
DAY 3 The Scandola Reserve
Today we embark on the biggest stage of the adventure, hiking and sailing in the heart of the Scandola marine reserve, a geological treasure trove formed by volcanic eruptions 300 million years ago. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the reserve is home to majestic rock formations and the famous osprey. Dinner and overnight in a bivouac on the beach.
DAY 4 Girolata to Ficaghjola
We head south, sailing through the Gulf of Porto, where the turquoise waters and red rock formations of Monte Senino offer spectacular contrasts. Our destination is the famous Ficaghjola beach, nestling at the foot of the Calanques de Piana. Dinner and overnight in a bivouac on the beach.
DAY 5 Ficaghjola to Arone
In the morning, we head for the beach at Arone, passing the majestic Capo Rosso and the superb Calanques de Piana. This unforgettable route plunges us into the midst of red granite cathedrals and sea caves, offering an exceptional view of the Gulf of Porto. Dinner and overnight in a bivouac on the beach.
DAY 6 Arone to Stagnoli
We leave the superb beach of Arone and sail along a jagged coastline, passing beautiful sandy beaches where we stop to enjoy a swim and a magnificent sunset. Our route takes us to the port of Cargèse, an ancient Greek city where Christian and Orthodox rites coexist. After exploring the town, we take a short sail to our bivouac beach for the night. Dinner and overnight bivouac on the beach.
DAY 7 Stagnoli to Sagone
This last sail takes us to the port of Sagone for a final lunch, marking the end of our adventure. After enjoying the beach and the beautiful views, we return to the base to pack up. A bus transfer is then organised, either to take participants to the airport or to take them back to Ajaccio, scheduled for around 4.30pm, marking the end of the trip.
